I love Hootie. My husband and I drove all the way to Utah to pick him up, and I have some pretty fond memories of that trip, but mostly I remember how in love I fell with this little sweetheart on the long drive back home. He is such a good boy. He is so beautiful, walking with a natural upright stance, so long and level, so powerful yet still angular. He has just the right combination of everything I’ve ever looked for in a herd sire. He’s my favorite buck to look at and sometimes I go outside just to admire how awesome he is. He is displaying a lovely long and flat rump structure, which is something I’ve been striving for over many years, and I love his upright structure. He has just the right proportions all around and he is the first to greet me at the buck gate for loves. I also love that he throws such big, gorgeous, expressive eyes in his kids–it’s a very particular look that is my absolute favorite.

DAM’S GENETICS: Creamery Creek BB Wood Owl scored EEEE91 as a second freshener and milked 550 pounds in 161 days, with a projected mature evaluation yield of 1270 pounds on a 305 day lactation. Grand-dam Creamery Creek BZ Spotted Owl milked 1030 and then 1150 pounds on her 3rd and 4th 305 day lactations. There are many generations of solid milk production and strong rumps in these lines.

SIRE’S GENETICS: Old Mountain Farm Fat Chance is a son of Old Mountain Farm Fat Tuesday 3*M EEEE91. Tuesday is the littermate of the 2017 ADGA National Champion, Old Mountain Farm Merriment. Fat Chance’s sire is Old Mountain Farm JohnQ Public, who earned VEE90 at 04-04.

Both sides of Hootie’s pedigree have E rumps. My hope is that Hootie is able to improve both production and show qualities. He is the trifecta: 1) temperament, 2) structure, and 3) milk. His first kids arrived in 2024, and they are beautiful. I’m very happy with their overall structure and can’t wait to freshen some daughters.
